Ex-FIFA Vice-President Jack Warner loses JR of extradition process

A Trinidadian court has dismissed the judicial review brought by Jack Warner, former minister and Vice-President of FIFA, challenging the legality of the extradition proceedings against him. He currently faces extradition to the United States, where he is charged with wire fraud, racketeering, and money laundering.

In his ruling, Justice James Aboud acknowledged Warner’s argument that the Trinidad-US extradition treaty did not fully conform to Trinidadian law, but said that this could not succeed because if full conformity was required Trinidad would be unable to have extradition treaties with any other nation in the world.
